Lets face it, if you want to listen to music if you are like me you load up Spotify and jam out right? Here is a short guide on how to install Spotify on Linux.

First lets load up terminal you can normally do this by pressing “CTRL + ALT + T” If that does not work you may have to find terminal in your menu.

Now that you have terminal loaded if you are on Ubuntu simply type

“snap install spotify”

enter your password if prompted and you are done.

*Updated 19th October 2019* On any other distro copy and paste this:

curl -sS https://download.spotify.com/debian/pubkey.gpg | sudo apt-key add - && echo "deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install spotify-client


Press Enter

Then Enter your password

And you are done. now you can listen to your favorite playlists anytime. If you want to know what these codes do keep reading.

“sudo apt-key adv –keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 –recv-keys 931FF8E79F0876134EDDBDCCA87FF9DF48BF1C90”
Adds a key to verify the package

“echo deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free”
Adds the repository for Spotify

“Sudo apt-get update”
Updates repositories list

“Sudo apt-get install spotify-client”
Installs Spotify
